Military Appreciation Day newsletter

NCangler.com is proud to support the work of MAD. Here is a copy of the first MAD newsletter. ;)
Hopefully, this newsletter finds you well and enjoying a fantastic fishing season! Although the MAD 2 event is behind us, the work of MAD is really never finished. The intent of this message is to provide a brief update on some very important activities that have occurred recently.

With MAD 2 in the books our attention has turned to improving the MAD organization. One of the major lessons learned from MAD 1 was the lack of follow up with our donors, sponsors and volunteers. To address that, we are in process right now of creating thank you packages, letters and certificates that will be sent out in the next month.

While working on our lessons learned list, we also have been busy with the day to day management of the organization and are thrilled to announce that MAD, Inc has been granted tax exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service! If you would like a copy of the IRS determination letter, please email your request to [email protected] or post a request in the General Chat forum.

Another major milestone reached in the two months since MAD 2 is the launch of the "Take A Hero Fishing" Program. Have a fishing trip planned and have room to take one or more active duty service personnel? Simply post the logistics in the Take A Hero Fishing forum on the MAD website and we will match up active duty troops with you! Already this program has provided fishing trips for more than one dozen deserving servicemen including trips on Whipsaw Charters and on private boats as well.

The last major announcement involves the creation of MAD 2 1/2 (we really need to find someone to come up with a more creative name!). MAD 2 1/2 will be a fishing trip aboard the Continental Shelf in Morehead City on September 21, 2007. This trip will be for the Wounded Warriors Barracks at Camp Lejuene and their families. This trip will cost MAD close to $5000 when you add in food and tips for the crew, so if you are so inclined, please consider making a tax deductible donation to MAD to help us cover the cost of this trip. We also are in need of approximately 15 additional volunteers if you would prefer to spend a day fishing with these amazing American Heroes.

Thanking our Troops is more than a once a year effort and the volunteers at MAD, Inc. have changed the focus of our organization so that we can conduct events, and host our troops on a year round basis. Hopefully, this newsletter encourages you to join us as we move to "Serve Those Who Serve America" all year long!

Additional information, volunteer registration and donation via paypal is all available at www.militaryappreciationday.org.

Thank you for your continued support!

Re: Military Appreciation Day newsletter

Thank You Randy for showing your support of Military Appreciation Day. If anyone is interested in taking a Wounded Warrior from Camp LeJeune fishing contact me and I will give you all the info. One item of note anyone you take will have a fishing license so that is one less thing for you to worry about.

Re: Military Appreciation Day newsletter

Thank you very much NC angler for supporting this great cause. We will be taking approx. 100 wounded warriors out on the Continental Shelf early fall(sept 21???). The cost with meal runs about $5000.00. If anyone can donate a few dollars to help pay for this event please go to Military Appreciation Day - Home. If you would like to ride along and help the troops with rigging please sign up on the MAD site.
