Hey mobile, welcome to NC Angler.

You looking to fish from a boat in the sounds and creeks or surf/pier fishing?

The puppy drum (adolescent red drum) are in the creeks and sounds all year down here but the action is slow until about May or June when the water warms and the bait comes back. Your best shot at big red drum (what we call Old red drum) is in the summer through fall in the surf or near the inlets. You can catch some old drum this time of year but they are off shore and hard to target. Also the Pamilco sound has a hot old drum bite in the late summer/early fall.

Hope that helps.

welcome, Glad To Have You Fishing With Us. As Ta Said This Time Of Year Is Hard To Find Bull Drum, But In The Summer And Fall The Bull Drum Run Great In The Pamlico Sound, There Are Plenty Of Guides In The Beaufort Area That Can Put You On The Bite. Hope This Helps And Welcome Again...............chris
