Hello again everyone. This one is game changing! Enjoy and if you've got any of your own tricks to add for this behavior please let me know.
I think the xrap is a bit better at getting a hook in them when they're just doing that bumping of the lure. My guess is it's just how close the hooks are to the body of the lure or perhaps the angle that it moves at like you mentioned. Can't argue that the 17 is better at drawing an actual strike more often than any other bait. Especially in the cold weather. When we hit the 45-50* range that bite gets really hard. That's when I move to my shallow creeks and look for a big girl to eat a topwater in the late evening after the water has warmed up several degrees. These next few days will be prime for that big trout bite I like to go for late evening.Skunked, 52° cold & windy........ICM
Same for me today—Pamlico River 50 degrees, my creek 48 degrees. Water was gin clear and I could see the bottom in 5 feet of water. Trolled 3 lines for over 2 1/2 hours—in the creek and in the river—without a strike, while pitching an MR17. Nada, Zip, Zero, Nothing—except that it was an absolutely beautiful day on the water.Skunked, 52° cold & windy........ICM
