Need help for Sound and inshore fishing around Emerald Isle

I have been to Emerald Isle a few times and have surf fished and fished from the pier etc.. But I am taking my kayak with me for the first time and want to fish the Bogue sound and some of the inshore fishing areas. This is a new experience and any suggestions would be great. I will be there all next week. What to use? Where? What might I be catching?
