I'm taking some Marines from out of state fishing tomorrow and had planned on tying to striped bass around New Bern...that was until I got skunked today trying to do just that. I was thinking about heading down to MHC to try fishing the marshes for trout or drum, is anything happening in that general area or anywhere within an hour's drive of New Bern?

If you can make the drive, I highly recommend the Roanoke. Amazing striper action still going on. I know bait and wait is not for everyone but when you've got 2 or 3 on at a time it gets real interesting.

Due to extremely low water New Bern is tough right now. Real tough... Not to mention the Fishers of Men tournament will be on Saturday so there will be a lot of added pressure.
