Need some tips for striped bass

My buddy and I have read everything there is to read over the past week about striped bass fishing the Plymouth area. We have settled on the hwy 45 public ramp. We are going in the morning with gulp jerk shad, bucktails, flukes, paddle tails, swim baits and everything we can think of. We have braid and mono. Spinning and baitcaster. We have a fish finder and have never fished for striped bass before. We are putting a ton into this trip and driving two hours to try our hand. We really are worried about finding fish. Its a lot of water and we only know to look for creek mouths and river bends. If anyone can give us some more current hints on locations we would really appreciate it. Feel free to pm but I would definitely owe y'all one. We really just want to catch a few. Thanks!

I haven't really focused on stripers yet but being from Long Island it was my target fish all through high school and into my early 20s it's all I fished for. They like to be around structure and moving water. Anywhere they can ambush. Usually on a ledge in deeper water as bait crosses from the shallows to the deeper holes. Good luck. I'm sure you'll do fine.

find the bait schools and you'll find the stripers.

I've only fished the Roanoke for stripers once and it was April of last year. We soaked cut purchased herring on the bottom and had pretty good luck. It was during the spawn though. If you check out tarpamguide, he's posted a lot of reports on them lately. If I had to guess, I'd say the closer to the sound, the better.
put off at 45 bridge landing, cross the roanoke, go under bridge, take a hard left then cross under bridge, 70ft hole take hard right go under bridge again and go 1/2mile at the mouth look to your left bridge is 1/2 to 3/4mile start fishing, you got all the baits you need, you just need to mix in water, good luck.
