Caught like 20 of these today... I think they are Black Sea bass, if so are they any good eating and what's the size and keep limit.

They are indeed Black Sea bass and are delicious to eat. They must be 13 inches long and you can keep 5 a day.

Thanks trigger I was trying to drift for flounder but the out going tide was to strong

These are one of the best tasting fish IMO. The meat is all very white and personally I don't think even flounder taste as good.
We're there any with size? Like most fish of this shape there is a lot of rib cage. Get a few that are on the large side and even the head has good meat for fish stew/chowder. Boil the head and remove the flesh. Keep the broth and flesh and ditch the rest of the skull parts and you will have a feast. Even better after it cools and gets reheated as in leftovers.
Darn, now I want some black sea bass.

Yep he's in Morehead that's why I gave the south of Hatteras regs. Good for those that may be north to know though

Eric, it's only the giant Black Sea bass that are in California that are endangered, and I've hooked into a few of those too... I just haven't ever caught any of thier east coast cousins. But yea the biggest one I got was 16 inches they ranged from 11-15 mainly

Maybe the 18" ones......but there are millions of 4-13" out where I fish! Dang bait steelers!
