Born and raised in NC. Embarrassed to ask. Never caught a red drum. Got a saltwater kayak this week. Willing to go anywhere. Spend lots of weekends in Southport though. Drove up to Wilmington today. Got some flies at Great Outdoor Prov. Went to Intracoastal Angler and got some 3" shrimp and 5" shad Gulp. Now what? Seriously. What are the basics of chasing redfish? Is one time of year better than another? Always in shallow water? Just wanting to get pointed in the right direction. Thanks to anyone with enough patience to throw me a line.
