Neuse Camping

What are the legalities of camping on a sandbar on the Neuse? Just leave it the way its found and I should be fine right? Thinking about doing some kayak camping one night on the Neuse with some buddies next month if the river doesn't come up much. The way the bream and cats have been biting I know we could come up with some bigguns. Might even do some bass fishing...

Shouldn't be any problem, people do that along the tar/pam here a lot. Use good sense, leave it clean , but you know all that.
Nothing illegal about camping on unposted property along the water. Just remember that while most owners will post the river's edge their deed almost certainly gives them the bottom halfway across the body of water (creek, river, lake, etc.). So if someone comes down and tells you that you can't be there, then you need to leave (unless you are floating, they own the bottom, not the water). If an owner or someone responsible for unposted property came down and told you to leave, then you would also have to leave. Most people don't care as long as you clean up your trash.

I have had some of the funnest times on the banks of the Neuse River. Never been asked to leave. But we pay attention to where we are. Use GIS and make sure someone isn't living within ear shot and you will be fine.
