Hello all, just moved to Gastonia NC from Ft.Lauderdale FL. i have been fresh water fishing for about 13 years now. mainly bass,tarpon and snook in the glades. looking forward to learning about and hookin into some of the local species.

hey all, ive been in nc for about a week now and ive not tossed a line since i left florida. never really fished anywhere else so some tips and locations or anything else would be great. i need as much info as possible. im a noob !

If you're looking for places to go, one of the textbook answers is to check out NCWildlife's Public Fishing Areas:
North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission

If you're looking for how to fish for NC fish, I'd start with "bass is bass"... If you fished for freshwater bass in Florida, I'd start by checking to see if the bass near Gastonia happen to speak Floridian. Ya sure can't lose much for trying -- at least your hook gets wet, which will make this week better than last week!

"They say" the water's cooling, and the topwater action ought to be coming alive... I'm still tryin' to figure this thing out myself... But one thing I've gotten down cold is that you're not gonna catch anything on a dry hook.

just got home from my first venture,went to a park named reedy creek in the charlotte area,where i managed to get me a lil 1.5lb bass. got him on a popper . nothing amazing but it sure felt good to get a fish my first time out in NC. sorry no pics havent got around to getting a digi yet and my wife wont let me take hers .
