hello everyone, i am new to the site, just logged in for the first time today. i am taking my son fishing for the first time this week while i am on vacation. where are some good areas to fish from the banks in the charlotte and sorrounding area. thanks!

I just did a little map searching and the Catawaba River chain of lake isn't far.

I'd try to find a good tackle shop and do some talking and a lot of listening in the store. Pick up a little tackle and a chest full of information.

Welcome gdnali and I believe there is lake Norman, Tillery, and and a number of rivers west of Charlotte area. Check out the NWC site and google map. Should help with everything you need to know for fishing regulations/licenses, regions, water access ramps, fish in that area, and any special restrictions or limits.

Blewitt Falls lake in Anson county is about a 60 minute drive from Charlotte. You can bank fish below the dam. I've seen some big cats caught there.

Dam at Mt. Holly (end of Wylie)just a few miles from previous
Hornets nest park has pond with bream and big park
