Fellas,
I am looking for a little help and advice. I Just purchased some land off Pollard Rd in Chocowinity moving down from NJ (land of high taxes over regulation and high crime). I currently own a 27 Oceanmaster center console and was wondering what my fishing options were with the boat. Will I be able to fish the lower river and sound with the boat or am I going to have to downsize? I would like to take the occasional offshore trip on blue bird days closest boat ramp is Blounts Creek about 25 min away. Is there any marinas on the river I could slip the boat or will I have to trailer the boat? On a side note the property I purchased holds deer what is the turkey hunting like down this way. About the only good thing about NJ is the turkeys are everywhere up here. I can walk out my front or back door and have my choice of birds to shoot. Any help is greatly appreciated. Greg

Welcome to NC and NCangler, we are glad to have you. As to your boat, it will work out ok fishing the deeper parts of the sound for old drum and tarpon during the short window that they are around, but aside from that it will be a little big to fish the creeks and lower part of the river for specks, reds, and flounder. As far as the turkey population goes, it is hit or miss. If your place has good habitat for them they will be plentiful, if it doesn't you might see a few but they are goinf to be where the food and cover is. As a whole, this area is thriving with turkey's though.
