Should this Striper weighing 73 pounds have been released? Anyway to release the fish and still validate the state record?

If I had caught it I don't have a clue if I would have or not! What about you guys?

Photo and release. if I cant have the record without releasing a live fish I dont want it.

I don't know of anyway of validatting a record without killing the fish. Seems like there should be. Man what a fish.

I dunno, it's a tough call. All you hear is how the resources are stressed and the fish dont have the size they used too, or at least the quantity of size. Just not sure how to do what I can to help and still enjoy fishing...

I would have kept him. There's plenty of big stripers up Jersey way, and the Chesapeake. He broke a record that was only two years old.

I'd have kept it too. Only way to get the record is to kill the fish. But then you can eat it so it's not wasted.

I have been following some threads up in VA - seems like they are catching a lot of big fish this year. Hope it continues.
