Newbie saying Hello

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say hello. I am moving down to Wilmington NC from Masachussets tommorow and love to fish. I fish fresh and salt from shore and kayak. After having the best striper season ever up here and leaving right in the middle of the fall run I hope to catch some fish down there to ease the pain. It should be fun learning new fish and the techniques to catch them.

Hey Straps , Welcome aboard. We'll have you catching Redfish and talking with a draw in no time. Good Luck!!!
Welcome to the party! I think you'll find a good mix of fishing around Wilmington and keep ion mind the Stripers arent here yet! Weatherwise we are about 1 month behind you.So you have that to look forward to..! My first recommendation when you get here is to buy a good chartmap and a backroads map and you'll have a good start for haulin' em in!! We have a large and ever growing "Kayak Armada" here so you're in good company! (Not me, butts too big...LOL!!)
Oh and don't forget. We put sugar in our tea, vinegar in our BBQ sauce, chili on our hamburgers, slaw on our PORK! BBQ sandwiches and we don't stand for hurtin' dogs, kids, or Mama !! Welcome :)

Welcome Straps57! The fishing is different down here, very good though. I spent 6 years living in Mass and fishing from Maine to Cape Cod to Monauk, great fishing there too.

Wilmington offers a good variety of fishing. You can fish the sounds with your kayak, the surf on the beaches, piers or jetty or head up the Cape Fear River. Of course there are plenty of charter boats to take you out further.

BTW - the only stripers you will find near Wilmington are the ones in the river. They usually don't make it this far south in the ocean. Most years they can be caught north of us in Hatteras and Cape Lookout but last year the bite never got strong south of Rudee inlet (VA).
Welcome aboard straps57 and welcome to NC. Wilmington is a beautiful place to live.
Welcome aboard. The south is a whole different world but you'll adapt rather quickly.
