I just brought my boat down from Roanoke Rapids. I fish the lakes and river up there for stripers normally. I am trying to get into fishing down here, but the techniques are a little foreign to me; I guess it can't be much different from what I'm used to. I was thinking of trying to catch some stripers in the Cape Fear, but I wasn't really sure on where to go, maybe around Smith Creek, but I don't even know if they've come that far up yet. Let me know if you have any thoughts.

The Stripers are in the Cape Fear now. Check out a post I made in Dec for some info http://www.ncangler.com/forums/f71/cape-fear-stripers-2205.html

Some good places to try on the river are Point Peter, the Isabella Holmes Bridge, banks on either side of the mouth of Smith Creek and the rice patty ditches north of there.

I usually put in at the public ramp on Castle street, right beside the Memorial bridge.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
