I think Oak Hollow opens for night fishing one night/week on Thursdays??, open until 10:00 PM, starting sometime soon. Maybe closer to summer....
I think Belews Creek would also be an option too.

Other than the rivers I'm not aware of any other lakes without a gate. Belews is a dream to fish at night though and good sized cats can be had very close to the Piney Bluff launch. Especially on weekends if you go out there after dark, use a light pole of some kind and keep close to the banks - I've more close calls than I deserve thanks to morons running WOT and not paying attention.
I'd like to yak at some Cats on Tuckertown or Badin at night, not sure where around Greensboro to go though. If you decide to go to Tuckertown or even Badin and I'm off, I might be able to tag along!

Actually I might be going tomorrow morning if they are still caling for afternoon thunderstorms.
Yeah guffey, that's what has kept me away from Belews so far. I've never fished it yet, but use to ski out there quite a bit and still remember never actually feeling totally safe while I was on the water there.

Belews is definately a Mon-Friday place to fish. But when the traffic's light and the weather's right, that place can be really productive.
I might try belews tomorrow night. Supra, if the lakes were closer id be on that offer, but right now driving 80a miles to fish isnt in my budget.

I feel the pain too... I used to live 45 mins away from Badin, 25 mins from Tuckertown, 10 mins from High Rock and from where I could throw a rock at where Guffey wants to fish in Lexington.

I couldn't make it fishing today, sucks to turn around when you get somewhere.

Yeah I've been scoping out that hole for a year and here Supra lives accross the street I mean it ain't even right hahahaha!!
Your that far guffey? How far was randlman when we all met ip?
Nah man, I'm in Greensboro out near the Cardinal. That place Supracer's talking about is a good hour drive for me but he doesn't even have to crank his flippin' truck! Some guys have all the luck lol.
Haha' thats what sucked about moving here from raleigh. I was 10gone mins or less from 5the lakes and a river and if i went to my parents i was surronded by large ponds and rivers. And all free. Here everything is a drive and pay to launch
Yeah man, welcome to the fishing desert. Many would disagree but I think the Triad's municipal watershed lakes are disgracefully mismanaged fisheries - Save HP City Lake and (for now) Randleman, the rest aren't worth the launch fee IMO so I just budget for gas and travel

Just looked up the Midnight Madness date, sucks that I'm already scheduled for work that weekend and vacation isn't even close to an option.

I tend to stay away from pay to fish places, I remember having to prep and save for gas on the last Eno Meet. Luckily my little truck is a 5 cyl and things worked out pretty good after finally catching the highly targeted White Bass on my fourth trip.... I haven't been back since. But that's just me, I'll go fishing somewhere til I catch what I'm after to satisfy my goal and won't return for a good while

The Supra rarely comes out either since it feeds on Premium only and I'll take it fishing anywhere I can keep an eye on it.

But at least once a month, I'm more than willing to travel a bit to catch some fish (if things work out). But I've got no clue where to catch some Cats around Greensboro, especially at night.

bwguffy,
Don't discount those Greensboro city lakes. Had a 7.25 # large mouth out of Brandt plus several in the 4 to 6 range this spring. Better quality bass than I catch at Buggs Island and I have a house up there. Fish Buggs almost every weekend. Check the board at Brandt. My personal best large mouth came out of Lake Townsend one July years ago at just under 9 #. And if you check the schedule the city lakes do stay open after dark during the summer. Each lake has one late day per week.

Let me know when you go we can go together I have a kayak

This thread is over 10 years old. And all the Greensboro city lakes an absolutely suck these days to whomever posted a decade ago. They have destroyed them with the spraying and mismanagement.
