i would like to know if the red drum are finally moving to the piers of topsail and carolina beach because me and my dad and other family members usually fish at seaview and at our old faithful pier at seabreeze, nc. we are planning a trip for tis coming weekend. if not can anyone tell me if the spot are running and where

The Red drum have been in the surf and might still be a few there. The Spots are gone for the most part.

Fished Seaview from 3-5 this afternoon. Caught speckled pinfish. Other anglers were catching a few nice Black Drum, and lots of skates on cut shrimp. I have not seen a red drum on the beach in a week. But the bait was very,very thick. There probably is one hangin' around somewhere.

If you do go and try for specks, the water was very clear today. The specks would not hit traditional green grubs etc. very well. Nor would they hit gulps. I caught them on dark colored jerk shad style baits. Other anglers were catching them on" little fishes". The smallish plastic baits. Most of the fish caught were in the 11-15 in range. There should be big boys somewhere. You just have to be there when a school of biggies come through.

i see, when me my dad and my uncle went there in october we caught close to 200 spot in a whole day of fishing with 1 sea trout 1 croaker a couple of pins and pigs and about 190 spot after further thought

Good one Bread Man, we need to go fishing, if I ever get back out there. I haven't caught any speckled pinfish this year. Dad caught a nice one at Jolly Roger Thanksgiving weekend.

All of the big ones have been coming from the troughs in the surf on Mirrolures. Only one problem. Not many troughs on the beach right now that are deep.

What's going on Breadman! Wish I could be there going after some specks with you....but then you would be fishless. I've been killing some steelies and rainbows out here in oregon.

I am sure some steelies and rainbows would be fun. You may need a law degree to understand Oregon's regulations though............
