So today I decided to go through my dads old tackle boxes that I've had since he passed in 1997. My dad loved to fish for anything and everything, but his favorite was striper fishing, when we were raising our son and daughter, we had ski boats , and such, but my dad always tried to get me to buy a striper boat. Well he would be so stoked to find out I have a 198 DLV Carolina Skiff. It's amazing what I found in these boxes I didn't even think that he fished for trout, but I found a box of mirror lures. So I took some pics, I wonder which ones will still catch fish today, theses lures are all over 20 years old. My favorite is this pink, white and yellow, I hope you guys enjoy looking at these.

In complete agreement with both of the above. All would catch fish, it would be awesome to catch some fish on them, but I would not risk losing one either.

Since he used the MirroLures less than the other tackle I might just put one or two of those in a shadow box along with an assortment of his other lures, esp. any that you saw him using. If you have any pics of him with fish or while fishing you could put copies of those pics in the shadow box for a background. Let me know if I can help you work up a custom box to put some of his stuff in.

Sorry to read that you lost all of our Dad's stuff in the flood. that would be a tough thing. I am in the opposite position, Pop accumulated sheds full of stuff over the last 60 years. Nothing of much monetary value, some of it isn't even sentimental, and some of it there isn't even an explanation as to why it would be saved.

thanks Darrell my dad made lure as a past time, and I have some in a shadow box, some of them you can't tell them from store bought, he would love for me to catch fish with these, but I also would hate to lose any so I'm torn as to what to do, the ones he made are really special to me I haven't used a one and I doubt that I ever do. I'll try to post a pic of a few

I don't get overly sentimental. My folks would want me to fish with them. I would pick one for a keepsake and fish the others with pride!!

catch a nice trout on one of those beauties then look up to the heavens and say " how did you like that one dad "
That's what I'm talking about. Dad would want me to catch a fish with his lure and eat it in his honor. May go and do just that. I lost my dad in 99. I don't have any old tackle and it was all freshwater bass stuff anyways, but I have his guns. I think I'll harvest a deer with one of dad's rifles this year.
