Hey Folks! I have never fished at the Oak Island pier, but will get a chance next week for a few hours for 2 mornings. Not having anything other than a saltwater rod, may I ask your expertise on top 3 to 5 lures to use/buy (I have no sw lures), how to fish them, and what I may tie into for this time of year? Oh, and recommended line to respool my father's reel with for it?? I'll be fishing off the pier, not doing any surf casting. Thanks for any and all help!

Double bottom rig with small circle hooks like 2 or 4 baited with small piece of shrimp and small fishbite over the shrimp. Two or three ounce pyramid sinker depending on wind. If u like tossing lures, gotcha plug is usually the go to for blues. Line depend on what size reel. 5000 size and above can handle 20 lb mono. 30 lb braid can pretty much fit on any thing. Right now in kure beach it’s whiting croaker black drum, bluefish and sea trout. Mainly smaller stuff but that could change with water temperature
