Backlash, I believe the best bet if you feel up to it is to launch from the surf if it is as low as I think it will be. There's not that much room in the ditch for all the people on oak island with boats and jet skis. Near the west end of the Island there is some protected water. It is basically a great big slough that parallels the ICW. this time of year i would expect plenty of company there. On the east end is the Cape Fear. I would expect that side would be pretty busy also. There are some areas that might be interesting right out near the end of the Island but being in the mouth of the river can have its drawbacks. If you try the surf remember to travel light as you will be more apt to get dumped your first time or two. When you come in make sure you pick an area devoid of swimmers and keep that bow pointed at the beach. If you let it get to far left or right you greatly increase your chance of a dunking. Whatever you decide good luck.

Just thought of something else. Remember Sewfly's copperhead red fish fly? In that same thread you mentioned having some sucess on Berkley Power Bait grubs. Well just for you and the rest of the world (LOL) they make that in rootbeer with a long gold metalflake tail. I think that they should name that color pattern Red Candy. Snook love it to if you ever make it down to FL. ;)
