Hey guys, I'm looking to be down in the EI area this weekend and am thinking of doing some trolling off the beach for the blues/spanish running through right now. Anybody have experience doing this kind of thing and any tips so I can try to get the right setup going?

I'm thinking of coming with a medium action rod and am undecided as to whether or not I need to go for an open face reel or if I can stick with a heavier duty spinning reel.

Done a lot of fishing from the yak, but never dragged anything behind it with any succes!

I look forward to any replies to this topic as well. Being a kayak newbie, I have been wanting to give trolling a try too. One thing I am not a newbie to is the ocean and it's conditions. I dont think I would really want to give ocean trolling on a yak my first go in S-SW winds @ 10-15 w/ 2-4 seas as predicted for this weekend.
