Here in Durham for a week or so bought a inland fishing licence never fished for bass outside of Florida.
Went to Apex yesterday and after a couple hundred cast not even a nibble going to try lake Jordan next.

any tips on baits for Jordan lake bells church Pier?
I'm no professional but depending on how much your willing to hike and if you're just looking to get on some bass I'd recommend going to a smaller lake and try bank fishing around it and targeting lay downs. Totally a personal preference thing but I've never loved pier fishing for bass as I just feel like you're so limited to where/what water you can target. That being said, if you'd prefer the pier for any reason I'd definitely throw some soft plastics at the pylons and bounce either a creature bait or worm around them. Can't go wrong with a texas rig and water visibility has been pretty dingy lately so plan colors accordingly. If you're looking for a little more active fishing style or want to cover more water I'd go spinner bait or chatter bait.

Cam is correct about piers, you'll do better walking the banks and throwing some soft plastics or jerk bait small size, try some spinners in white or yellow. Jordan is a big lake so it's not the best one to fish from the bank, need a boat. Find some ponds or smaller body of water for better bank fishing. The fish are in a transition I think, not real deep and not real shallow. Live bait would catch something!
