Fished Kerr tonight. Launched at 5 pm, fished for a couple of hours until I got tired of the cold. Water temp around 42, air temp around 40. One nice channel cat (4#) in about 20 feet of water right at dusk, then nothing. Marked tons of fish on the DF, but they didn't want my bait (worms, minnows, and chicken livers). I was fishing on top of a submerged road, maybe I should have fished right next to it in the deeper water??

A fellow angler returning as I was launching reported having good luck with the white bass, but I didn't ask for details.

A bit cold, but otherwise a pleasant evening trip.

I have to admit, I decided not to go fishing yesterday due to the cold. I often go out in cold weather just somehow yesterday I couldn't get excited about it. Glad you went and caught one! Thanks for the report.

 

[Muddy Water]

A buddy of mine that fishes Gaston and does very well with the cats likes to fish in the currents generated by dam release and at the mouths of creeks flowing into the lake. However, that is in the summer. I don' t know if cold weather will allow for the same results in those places. He also uses cut shad for bait.

If I get a chance, I'll ask him about where to go this time of year.
