Was able to get into Onslow next week 26/27, with a couple of buddies from PHW (Winston). We're draggin the kayaks down. None of us are expert, but as you can see that's not stoppin us. Any suggestions on areas to fish and/or put in locations? We have base access, all Vets. PM me with any suggestions, if you can help. Don't want your sweet spot, would just like to catch some fish, without paddling forever, if we don't need to do so.

For starters:

1: French's Creek. Small dirt ramp accessible by a small dirt road south of the barracks buildings. Good access to the middle of New River

2. Court House Bay Marina. Reasonable distance from the Hwy 172 bridge.

3. Mile Hammock Bay. Decent fishing in vicinity and access to the lower New River & inlet with a bit of a paddle.

4. Onslow Beach Rd. Small concrete ramp on N. side of ICW. Area near swing bridge can be hot at times.

5. Freeman Creek boat ramp. Requires a permit from the base (which is free-- just need license, registration, proof of insurance & DOD ID. You also have to call in to ensure the area is open. They're very strict about that.) Good access to areas around Browns Inlet.
