I am looking to mount a trolling motor on my Pelican 120.
I am looking at 55 Lb. thrust motors.
BUT i would like to know which battery to get for it?
I am wondering which battery is the LIGHTEST DEEP
cycle battery out there to buy???

look at lithium batteries. They cost more but run longer, stronger and are by far lighter than traditional deep cycle.

I use a 30 LB. on my kayak and that is plenty of horse power. I can get 5 MPH on high speed. I have a lithium battery with 100ah but it cost $500 and probably weighs less than 20 pounds. The more thrust you have, the quicker the battery runs down.

That is exactly the set up I am thinking of buying!
A Minn Kota Endura C2 30 lb. thrust with a Amped Outdoors
60ah lithium battery.
Do you think the 60ah will be sufficient????

I also have a 55ah gel battery and I can fish at least 5-6 hours with it, no problem. I just don't go all out during that time, just stop and go.

What is the name of the 100ah battery and where did you get it? I have been looking for a Amped 60ah
and everyone says they are on back order until the end of April???

I bought this one on EBay, Lithium 12v Battery BMS LCD 100Ah LiFePO4 Deep Cycle. Comes from China and I built a box covered with fiberglass to store it. It come with a Lithium charger as well. You could just buy a55ah battery on EBay just to get you started for $100. That way I always have a fresh one if I want to fish all day.

Well I am still trying to put together a mount here.
Your best bet is to google Utube videos on making a kayak trolling motor mount.
There are several different styles and materials to make one.

Here is what I bought to go on my second kayak. Ultralight 403 kayak bracket - Torqeedo. It fits a 1 inch shaft motor and you get all the hardware you need. You can also buy mounting plates depending on what make of kayak you have.
