I used to fish Nag's Head on yearly OBX vac. and the crowd was usually on the south side. I never paid much attention to the wind direction, but think it was at my back when casting (grubs in the surf.) Now that I live an hour away from OBX, I will be making more pier trips throughout the year, but will look more at weather. In the past went out in any weather - it was VACATION. Now am on permanent VACATION (retired!) therefore can go anytime the fishing reports and weather are good.:D

Seems like folks fished the South side of the iron Steamer in the spring/early summer and the North side in the fall. Regardless of the wind I pretty much tried to figure out who was there often and learn by watching them.
