I've had a long dry streak from fly fishing (haven't been since the New River outing back in August), but I'm hoping to bring that to an end soon. I'd like to try a little streamer fishing, but the heaviest rod I have is a 6 wt, so casting some of the bulkier offerings is tough. I'm trying out my own variation of a Mickey Finn here, with some palmered hackle up at the head for a little more bulk in that area. Hoping it somewhat resembles a sculpin in the water. I know my tying sucks, but do you guys think this pattern will be useful?

I've tied uglier flies and the fish loved them.... All sort of critters in streams that it could mimic, so yes give it a shot.

I've been debating on entering the fly tying realm for quite some time now. Hopefully I will. I've got a lot going on. I use a 6wt and I've fished some decent sized streamers but nothing huge. I'm not sure a hungry fish would critique you on an imperfect tie job.

Had the pleasure of fishing with Jonathan one day on the aforementioned New River. While we didn't wear them out I can tell you he's pretty good with the long rod....
