So about a week ago I snagged this monster from the pond. He actually snapped my spinner rod. At least a 7 or 8 pounder. New to the sport so I hadn't bought a scale yet. Feel free to share your Personal Best stories. Thanks.

Daaaang, anytime you snap a rod fighting a fish that becomes a heck of a story 😂. Way to still land her though! If you're going to stick around with the hobby I'd definitely recommend getting a scale though. I went cheap on my first one and the clip broke in my bag - I didn't find out until I went to pull it out after catching what ended up being a 6lb 11oz fish. Luckily I just happened to have a friend with me to help pry the gripper open or I never would have been able to weight it. Moral of the story, I'd recommend getting a mid-range scale ($30-50) that way when that new PB comes along you can trust you'll have a way to document it.

If that is a 7-8 pounder the picture doesn't do it justice but with all the other rod adversity going on sometimes it's hard to get a great pic... way I see if if you didn't have a scale to prove otherwise that thing was probably more like 12-13 lbs 👀.

Thanks Cam. I did have someone tell me it looked like at least a 10. But as you said, hard to Guage. LOL. This pond has been infront of my house for 20 years and it too me to retire before I actually decided to get a hobby. Lol. Oh, I order a scale last week so next time I'll be ready. Lol. I realized that I may have pulled up o. The rod which caused it to snap. Good lesson.
