With the heavy rains of yesterday came the need to seek calmer waters. Rivers are blown out and I had to get my fix. Ventured to a nearby locale that would suffice. Wasn't able to hookup with any of the heavy hitting grass carp but fish were had.

Nice Pic's. Did you catch em on the "fly"?

Some of them have red/orange around the black spot on the gills, does that tell you something about the bluegill or is it just a something that some of the have? I have never noticed it b/4.

The ones with that coloration are redear sunfish (shellcrackers)....the rest are bluegill. Except of course, the largemouth bass.

Yes, of course I caught all these on the fly! Hahahah

DUH!! Just got home from a 28hr day and a little punchy. I did not notice this is the fly-fishing forum. You were to quick to on the draw for me to fix my faux par before I could remove foot from mouth. Guess I better go to bed now.
