I know some states open up the marina docks to shore anglers during the winter.
I'm pretty new to the Raleigh area but I wonder if now that winter has set in (and there is less boat traffic in and out of the marinas), do some of them allow fishing?

Mostly, I'm a crappie fisherman. But during the winter, when the weather is too foul for kayak fishin, I'm happy to catch most anything.

I’m an avid kayak fisherman and I’d tell you to get back into the kayak, as winter can be some of the best (and easiest) crappie fishing all year. All of the fish I’ve been marking / catching recently have been located around the bottom in the deeper parts of the lakes I’ve been fishing. I’d trying fishing with bass or crappie minnows on the bottom (fishfinder style) or just off the bottom with a float. I’ve marked a lot of fish around bridges and the slopes going down into the channels. I think they’re deeper because the water is most comfortable for them there right now.

Bank fishing on falls lake and jordan lake for crappie will start heating up in the next few weeks.
