Question about Topsail boat/trailer overnight parking

500 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Old Hunter
My extended family will be renting a place on Topsail in June, and I hope to bring my small skiff (16'). I'm hoping to park the boat at the rental, but I'm not 100% sure there will be room until we get there. Hoping someone on the forum might know of other overnight trailer parking options nearby. Thanks!

Chris…I have not been that direction in years. But I will tell you that
if there is a public boat launch DO NOT leave your trailer there unattended overnight!

Years ago, I left my trailer on the lot at the ramp parking lot on Ocracoke. I had a lock on the coupler, so most of the trailer was still there. Somebody had helped themselves to other bits, however, like the license plate, the winch, and the winch stand. Fortunately, they left the wheels/tires, so I was able to get my boat home once I figured out how to secure the boat to the trailer. Never again!

Find a marina if you can…it will be a lot safer there!

Open real estate seems to be hard to find on all the islands. The folks at Yopp Marine have a large lot up in Sneads Ferry, call them and maybe they will rent you space for the week. I keep my boat further up in Cape Carteret, hard to find a place here too. If you are retired military you may be able to leave it near Courthouse Bay on Lejeune. I understand the Coast Guard allows that on Emerald Isle, but I live too close to bother checking it out. OH
