Won;t be long before the weather changes like it should and the drum will be killing it.
Going saturday to try for some crappie and yellow perch. Gotta get my poles ready and my minnow bucket straight. Also, need to clean and straighten the boat up some.
IM GOING SATURDAY BACK TO NEW RIVER AS WELL TO DO SOME MORE FISHING MAYBE THIS TIME ILL TRY FOR SOME PAPER MOUTHS AS WELL,IF I CAN FIND SOME SMALL MINNOWS.
Know what you mean, going to check out the local tackle shop for some minnows, they usually have em, if not headed to Kinston, Neuse Sports Shop for a fact will have them.
Tim that Haywood landing place is that on 58? if so I was just up at the MX track right down the road. Had to Ragg my new 3 wheeler a bit. Other day I was pitchin my new line at the pier where I work and seen alot of flags just a wavin in the air just too far for me to cast. Maybe a little boat to get out on that shell bed.
BROCK YES THATS THE PLACE JUST UP FROM HILL FIELD ROAD TAKE NEXT LEFT AND AS SOON AS YOU TURN IN MAKEA RIGHT AND GO ALL THE WAY TO THE NEXT STOP SIGN TURN RIGHT AND YOUR AT THE RAMP GO UP STREAM FROM THERE AND ITS ALL GOOD FOR BOWFIN CATS AND WHAT EVER ELSE YA LIKE TO FISH FOR. AND YES A LITTLE BOAT ON THE SHELL BED WOULD DO FINE JUST NEED TO GET DAYS OFF TOGETHER AND WELLGET SOME FISHIN IN FOR SURE MY FRIEND
Tim and Scott, I' love to see what it is like to have a bowfin pull me around in my yak. I also like to fish for crappie, and other fresh water fish, but my all time favorite is fishing for reds. I'm still recovering from my carpal tunnel surgery, and have another hand to go.
dennis, i can hook you up there for bowfin and paper mouths,i hope your carple tunnel surg went well and your on your way to a speedy recovery . im trying to heal a bad ankle but i went fishing yesturday with wayne for bowfin and we nailed 17 more
Tim, I don't think there is anything speedy about carpal tunnel surgery. It takes 2 weeks for the doctor to see me for post op, and then there is the possibility for 4 more weeks. Then, I have my right hand to go. I should have gotten this done ovet the winter, but things just didn't go that way fro me. I would love to give bowfin or papermouths a try. I've never fished deliberately for bowfin. I have fished for craooie at kerr lake on severl occasions. The largest crappie I ever caught was in Tukey Quarter Creek, just on the other side of Fort Barnwell, on 55. That one
was caught with a Strike King mini king bait in the dark purple color.
These bandages are so miserable. I keep hitting the wrong keys and keep having to enter my username and passwor for some odd reason. Oh, I stoped by the river on the way back from the buffet yesterday. I had to check out the shad fishing. Lots of people, but i only saw maybe 3 caught on the other side of the N
euse River bypass bridge from the old wildlife ramp
After I get over this surgery, I may go ahead and retire. Not sure yet. I would have done it after I retire, but I have a lot of questoins that have been not so sure about how it would be paid for afterwards. It will be difficult to stay with all those reds to catch about May.
Hopefully, I will be over both surgeries by the mi
ddle of April. Then, I will need to give my notice so the nretirement money will be caught up with me by the time I do retire. R
etrirement can be done immediately, but it is best to give them at least 4 weeks notice.
Scott, sounds good to me. Maybe we can all get back together to show those drum who's boss. It will take me a while to build my strength up again for paddlling. I was working out in the gym until my surgery. That is how I'm able to overcome my arthritis.
Tim, I'm ready to go with you anytime you have an opening. I can always go in my yak. Just as soon as I feel i can go fishing at all again, I'll get up with you to see if we can get back together.
