The next meeting of the River Herring Fishery Management Plan Advisory Committee (AC) will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. The AC will meet at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Fish Hatchery, 1104 West Queen Street, Edenton, NC.

The Committee will receive stock assessments on the two species of river herring, alewife and blueback herring. Stock assessments are analyses, which help determine the population status of fish. The stock assessments indicate both alewife and blueback herring are overfished.

If you have any questions, please call Jess Hawkins at 800-682-2632 or 252-726-7021 or Sara Winslow or Kathy Rawls at 800-330-7805 or 252-264-3911. The public is invited to attend.
