I've fit a few shorter floats into a busy schedule lately on the local flows. It's hard not to when you know the fish are chewing hard right now. We have been catching them on all kinds of lures, but most impressively they have started to take topwater with reckless abandon!! Caught about 15 smallies on topwater since Sunday, mostly on the Whopper Plopper in "Monkey Butt" color including two fish over 2lb. (one was caught by a guided client!) Some fish are falling for plastics and crankbaits as well. Get out and fish people!!

GoPro footage to come!! (it's kinda backing up in the editing room)

The local small water ditch donkeys have come readily to the fly the last 10 days or so. I'm still not seeing much activity up top, but most fish have been holding and feeding in the skinny water in tailouts, so there have been lots of shots at true sight fishing.

Lover the color on this fish, and yeah, that's the $0.15 solution (crappie jig deployed as a streamer) hanging from his mouth.

I watched this fellow crunch a small sunny before getting him to eat a bluegill pattern. Match the hatch, baby.

Ah, the vagaries of cell phone selfies. This fish was an absolute stonker, **** near 20". You'd think it was no bigger than the fellow I nailed under the bridge, but it probably weighs twice as much.
