I am looking to put rod holders on my skiff boat. Fishing in salt water, I figure stainless is the best material. However none of the rod holders i see on the internet tell me what gauge stainless they are made of and some say nickel/chrome not stainless.
What has been everyone's experience with rod holders, holding up to saltwater?

PVC and stainless rod holders hold up just fine in the salt---unless you get a green cobia on deck

I had the West Marine ones on my Seapro and they held up fine. Make sure you get them nice and tight and keep them checked. http://www.westmarine.com/rod-holders

I have the cabelas brand rod holders and they hold up great. You can put mounts wherever you like and move them around as needed.
