Santeetlah Lake

Try using a four inch Pumkinseed finesse work rigged weightless. I have only been on Lake Santeetlah twice, but have had success both times with this setup. The problem I have is none of the bass I caught were over about 16-17 inches. I am heading up there tomorrow through Monday and hope to have better luck this trip.

If you see a group of kayakers or a 17' center console hydrasport it may be me. One of my friends is there tonight and he has already been catching fish on that Pumkinseed worm. Hopefully, he didn't get your campsite - he got the same one we had last year though. :)

I just meant do not use a weight of any sort. I have been using a light weight spinning rod to throw the worm, since with no weight it won't throw that well unless you use a more limber rod and lighter line. The only reason I suggested no weight is because I haven't caught any fish on Santeetlah when fishing with a weight. I am sure that using a normal Texas rigged worm with weights works well in certain areas or at certain times of the year - I just don't know the lake that well and what I have been doing works for me. Best of luck and good fishing.

All we caught were largemouth - all on either 4 inch pumkinseed finesse worms or 4' motor oil worms. Three day total for my wife, my friend and I included 22 bass and one large bream. Great weekend on the lake. Only saw a few skiers and lots of other fisherman. Only got rained on at night and once for a short time during the day. Any suggestions on best spots for smallmouth fishing on the lake? We caught all of our largemouth down on the south side of the lake and saw plenty more than we caught. All of the fish were pretty small (12 to 16 inches).
