Saugeye?

I've been reading that walleye/sauger hybrids also known as "saugeyes" are a good replacement for lakes where walleye do not do well.

I wonder if they could be a replacement for walleye here in NC?

I don't know how well they would do but I do know what they taste like and they would eat the heck out of young white perch. This could be a good stocking for reservoirs.

I know they did well in some lakes in Illinois, and i know personally they did really well in the Illinois river. So well that the opening leg of PWT and Walmart walleye tournaments were held there. The state fisheries kept many females right after weigh in to replenish fingerlings by the thousands.
Sounds like an idea to try in one lake to begin.
