Sea View Pier 10-18-10 (King On!!!!)
Since the beach was having some waves on it I decided to fish off the Sea View pier. Got out there about 3PM and within 20 minutes of me being there I watched a 25 pounder sky on a bait and he was hooked up. 10 minutes into that battle a 35 pounder skies another bait so two kings on. Before I got there they had one strike and another one that pulled the hook after a good run. After they landed those two fish it was quite for another hour or so. While I was plugging away getting blues and spanish I seen a king sky my bait but missed. Went to my pole as he skied it again but bit the bait into two. I was thinking just my luck. 40 seconds later he skied it the thrid time and the reel starts smoking. 30~35 pound king is peeling 200~250 yards of line off. Had him on the hook for about 20 minutes. Played him to the pier without touching the drag. Just as we were setting it up for a gaff shot the hooks pulled. DARN!!!!! Oh, well. That's just how it goes. Ended the day with 4 spanish and put a bunch of blues into the bait tank. I'll be trying again tomorrow.
