I flounder fished Seaview on the 4th. I got to the pier around 3:00pm, and fished to a little after dark. Caught seventeen flounder but only three made the cut. I had four or five more fish that were legal, but they were very poor. The biggest was
19 1/2 inches, and here was fat. I didn't weigh the fish but a fat one that length will usually go 3 1/2 pounds. The water was beautiful Wednesday. Another note on the pier. Over 75 kings have been caught this year. The biggest is 44lbs.

They were legal length wise, just not fat and wide. They will be 2pound fish when I catch them in the fall. Oh, and in my Bio, I list myself as #1 flounda pounda

One afternoon last week I fished over there with live shrimp for a couple hours. Only caught four flounder, but they were all big and fat. You never know what size fish are going to be around on any day. I wanted to hit it some more tomorrow, but the weatherman is calling for a southwest wind. Makes for very ugly flounder fishing water on the beach unless it is 5-10. If it is blowing southeast, you are going to kill them.

So much for that old saying. You know the one; 'west is best east is least.' In the summertime west generally means you don't have long before a front hits. It's just about to me now. Been cloudy since 1 pm.

Give me a SW wind any day. We been killing the kings, Mahi and now sailfish all on the SW wind. It's what blows here in SE NC most of June -August! If the wind is from the east (not SE or NE but EAST), I keep the boat in the driveway.

It's different from the pier - SW tends to muddy up the beach water.

So the saying must have come from boat fisherman....lol

Flounder and trout in the river, I will take a east wind when fishing from the boat any day.

Bread Man, Seaview definately has caught some nice Kings this year. I hear you guys have some deep water off the end (28 ft) We've caught around 30 off Surf City, but the water is very shallow. 8-10 ft at low tide. Any 15-20 MPH wind, from any direction on the water, muddies it up in a matter of a couple of hours.
Congratulation on the Flounder, I know that had to be a blast.
