I’m wondering the same.

Can’t say anything on this year specifically, I just started targeting shad last spring. Last year I got some Americans on spinners immediately downstream of the lake dam right around Mother’s Day. Total surprise to me and I wasn’t fishing for them. Assumed they’d be long gone by then. I may try some between Milburnie and Poole Rd in SE Raleigh tomorrow and report back.

I was up in Weldon today and managed a few Hickories, but (I’m guessing) maybe the Raleigh areas take a bit longer to fire up given how far inland we are.
