does anyone know of good places to shark fish from the surf within 50 miles of Jacksonville nc? also if anyone had any tips on how to get started it would be greatly appreciated! thanks

I`m fairly new to it myself.Just moved here last fall,but i would say just about anywhere.I caught a 5 footer last year on the bay side,which i considered good for my first time out.lol I would find it hard not to think the ICW would be a great place also,But as i stated i`m new to this salt water fishing.

They catch quite alot of them off the surf in Topsail. Some people use kayak's to get their baits out deep.

I met a guy out on the pier in surf city a couploe years ago who was buying up all the chopper blue fish we were catching to use them as bait. Apparently a 10 lb. chopper was only enough to make three baits for this guy. he made mention of the fact that he was paddling his baits out past the reef on a paddleboard which depending on where you are and the tide at the time can be several hundred yards out and sounds suicidal to me. Didn't get any other specifics on how he was going about it but he claimed to be catching some really big fish in this way.
