OK, I've got a dumb question that has been bothering me. Looking at the 2500 line capacity shows 6/200 for mono and 10/170 PowerPro. Is that 10lb test or diameter for braid? I would think test, but 10lb test PP is supposed to be 2-3lb mono diameter. If that's the case, it should be able to handle a lot more 10lb braid than the 170, more than the 6/200 mono. So what am I not seeing?

The PowerPro numbers are line test, can not answer the mono vs PowerPro diameter discrepency.

The 10lb powerpro has .15mm diameter so it should handle ~333 yards assuming the 6/200 is correct (and you use .25mm for 6lb line). Maybe someone just screwed up and labeled it wrong assuming regular 10lb diameter. Looks like it.

Thanks I just ordered 4 `1000's All out of the 2500 model which I have three already. Great deal. Plan to finally get some ultralights and use some four and six pound tests.

I've been looking at some of the St. Croix Triumph models that run $90 I think I'll wait for a sale on them. I own five now and really like them although mine are casting or heavier spinning for my 2500 models.

St. Croix is good stuff. I've been really happy with the Bass Pro Shop Microlite rods, the graphite ones, not the fiberglass. Around $40 and they do put them on sale from time to time. Sedona 1000, Microlite light action rod, Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft 4-6 lb test in green is my go-to rig for fishing small rivers.

Thanks for the heads up, but I was too late to get one. We need more of these post when deals come available. Thanks again NCTribute!
I am a little hesitant to do too much of this, there are sponsers on this site that might not be too thrilled about it. Best advice is that Shimano is updating several reel models right now and some big discounts can be had. Do some searching.
