c'mon sundrop stradics are nice but dang they ain't that nice. I have a reel technician who wouldn't own a stradic. He swears by the sedona etc $40-50 class shimanos. His opinion is the upgrade reel models every few years and you cannot get parts for the reels so........ 40-50 bucks for a sedona or senora use it a couple years toss it and buy another. That being said I have 2 stradics (1 of which i bought from drumchaser :D) 1 stradic ci4 and 1 saros. I take extremely great care of my reels so they will last me a while. I have several penn battles that are 3 yrs old and operate as the day they were bought. The only reason I went with stradics is the increased drag.

I've been very happy with my Shimanos in general. I think I have or have had every "S" they make under $100. Even their "junk" is better than what some companies push as their quality reels. I've just always heard how nice the stradic, saros and stellas are and would like to own one. I have siennas saharas and sedonas and like them.

I bought a "S" something 20 yrs ago at Wal Mart. It was one of the hard plastic wrap ones like $29.99 I bought it specifically for wade fishing since I knew it would get dunked quite often. I fished with it for several years. A guy at work who bought a kayak for exercise asked me about 2 weeks ago if I had a rod and reel combo he could borrow because he wanted to give fishing a shot. I went through my stuff found the old reel put it on a cheap old penn rod spooled up some 8lb mono and gave it to him. He loves it lol and has actually caught several nice flounders so far. I couldn't believe how well the reel looked and operated after being dunked multiple times and sitting in my shop unused for multiple years lol
