"Made some mistakes, had some bad breaks..."
Matt "Guitar" Murphy
Sunday 9a-2p trolled the waters between Rich's and Mason's from 100-1000 yards off the beach. Don't have a fishfinder so we were looking for changes in water color, seams, surfAce activity. Saw a bird here n there, but no frenzy spotted. Had binoculars, didn't see anything going on further east. Winds were light early on, water was 59. Changed speeds and offerings with no change in the results. Blues, 30 of them. Got many strikes around the inlets, but got strikes along the entire length of Fig 8. They showed a preference early for a 00 silver clarkspoon on a #1 planner then the YoZuri DD crystal minnow got hot later. Also shut the motor down after a hook-up three times and fan casted Gotcha plugs around the boat to no avail. The outgoing tide provided a clear cut water color change and that gave us something to key on, but they were the same blues we caught all morning.
This was my first trolling trip in the Atlantic Ocean. With the reports I read, and info from friends...was hoping for better. But I'll take it as I've been a fan of the blues since high school.
"...now my mind don't work and my whole body aches.
The blues is fallin, fallin down on me like rain."
