Skunk-free evening

Took my youngest fishing Sat eve at a local pond to try to shake the skunk the heat has put on me. About forgot what a good tug felt like. I caught 1 fish on a Super Spook. My daughter caught several on red worms and C-rig UVSC. Take a good look at my daughters fish.... Slam middle of summer and full of eggs???? What variables do ya'll feel lead to such a late season spawn?
Another thing; to date, I have only caught 1 fish EVER on a C-rig. Both of my daughters and even my wife caught fish their first time ever throwing one. I told Meredith "cast, sweep, reel slack, sweep, reel slack, sweep, set hook on 3". BAM! she's got it mastered. I told her I don't understand how she is so good at it and she simply responds "I did it like you told me, Daddy"! I can't buy a fish on a C-rig. Advice welcomed!

I've got nothing for you on the c-rig, only had one hook up which resulted in 0 fish, nearly pulled the rod out of my hand and then got me caught in a big reed, losing the fish in the process. I will say that we live close so if you ever want to get out, it would be convenient if nothing else. As far as fish full of eggs this time of year, I think fish will spawn multiple times per season if conditions allow.
Eggs or just well-fed? Who can really know. True they can spawn late, but maybe just wolfed down a couple crawfish last night.

I've been told it works.
;)

In all seriousness, lightest weight that gets the job done (allows a good cast and gets to the bottom), and try shorter "sweeps" to where they are more like long twitches, and then dead-sticking it between sweeps. I can't tell you how many bass I've caught after casting a C-rig bait and then spending 5 to 20 seconds stripping line to clear a loop or minor backlash, or pausing my retrieve to answer the texts my wife is peppering me with, only to reel down and find the line heavy with Mr. Greensides.

Smiles say it all, nice job... your daughter having a good time is better than you catching fish anyway, right?
