Chris,
we ended up with 12 specs, 8 of them were over 12 inches. we caught some on mirrorlures, some on DOA shrimp and popping cork, and some on swim baits (2 and 3 inch). We actually caught 4 of them just throwin out a DOA shrimp and letting it sit under a cork.
It was good getting out on the water and meeting you and Dave.

I didnt get any pics of the trout but my buddy caught a fish with vertical stripes and red fins??? I will post a pic of it and hopefully someone can ID it for me.

Hey Dave,

Nice to meet you guys and I'm really glad you caught some fish. Tell your buddy to be safe in Irac - appreciate his sacrifices, and your service as well. Maybe next time you're down I'll have more time to fish. Tell him to give us a shout when he gets back and I'll try and put them on some nice fish.

Send in that image - someone's sure to know what it is.

Regards,
Dave

Yep, I hear them called raccoon perch in the south but no matter the name, these "very" tasty fish are highly sought after, where I've caught them in MN, WI, and MI. With liberal or non-existing limits, yellow perch are especially good for stocking up the freezer for the long upper-midwest winters. In the fall when fish can average close to 2 lbs and often be caught in great numbers, folks take to the lakes and rivers much like they do around here for the fall spot and sea mullet run.
