Hi. I need to work out a way to keep my trolling motor charged, with out having to take it out of the boat from where I store it and charge it at home.

I was looking at a Solar charger from West Marine. Has anyone else used these, and if so, do you like it? Thank you.

As far as I know solar chargers are good to keep a charged battery "active" but they aren't strong enough to recharge a weak battery. I assume you have to access to power where you store the boat so a "trickle" charger is out of the question?

In the Basspro Shops catalog I received two days ago (haven't slept since, btw!), they have 3 solar chargers. According to the descriptions, one is for maintaining a charge, the other two can be used to charge a dead battery. No personal experience, just passing on what I saw in the catalogs.

I use a Bruunton(sp) solar charger that I picked up at Bass Pro last summer for about $35. I have not had any battery issues since I started using it. It's the smaller one that only maintains the charge of the battery. I will probably pick up a larger one next time I see one. I would give it a big thumbs up!!!
