South Tar River Greenway

Anyone had any luck fishing from the bank along the South Tar River Greenway starting off at the Greenville Town Commons?
If so, what were you catching and what kind of bait?
Is it worthwhile to bottom fish there using Nightcrawlers?
Thinking of hitting it up this Sunday.
Thanks!

I would use shrimp on a bottom rig. I would think you could catch some channels if the current isn't too strong. Otherwise you might have trouble with a bottom rig snagging.

I went on Sunday. It wasn't great. I ended up folding camp and going over to North River Park.
I was using Nightcrawlers on a bottom rig but, as you mentioned, the current was way too strong and I couldn't hang on to my rigs.
Also, that's definitely not the place you want to go on very hot days. There's not a drop of shade to be had.
There is a pier/boardwalk/whatever located on the Tar Greenway behind the "Off Leash Dog Area" downtown. You can see it on google maps. There are some shaded areas around it to fish from. I've been once but it was flooded so did not partake in any fishing. Hopefully when the water drops enough I'll get out there and give it a shot.

I'll have to go looking for that! I really didn't want to give up on the area altogether.
There are already few enough spots around here.
Thanks!
