[Oregon Chum Line]

Hey guys, new to the saltwater game so I figured I'd ask you some questions about habitat for Speckled trout i.e. prefered water temp, structure, time of the year they spawn, main food source. Are they a fish that cruise or ambush? Virtually know nothing about them other than what I've been able to study however, doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of good information out there. Appreciate all ya'lls generosity of knowledge. - OCL

Recommend the book by Frank Sargeant called "The Speckled Trout Book". It is available thru a number of sources, he has also done books on flounder and possibly reds.

It is a very good book. It is geared somewhat towards Florida but it contains some great general info. I highly recommend it.

Great read, thanks for the pointers. Nothing like the Fisherman's brotherhood! Think I have a pretty fair start on it. Kind of amazing actually, how similiar all ambush predator fish react. I'm really anxious to get out there and continue the learning process.

Have plenty of assorted and different colors of lures, whats hot today may not even draw a pinfish bite tomorrow.
