Maybe I am early but I have planned a guide for Southport next Wednesday. We will flyfish or light tackle depending on the water temp . He is a knowledgeable guide in and around the Cape Fear so we know we will have a great adventure no mater what we do. Let's hope the weather will be fair.

I just a few years behind ya but I'm the same way, esp. when going offshore. Its what I love to do!

I understand completely, I have a trip going out Sunday morning, I have to be in Wilmington at 6am ready to roll.

Thats all I can think about. Most of my fishing is inshore and lite trolling for blues and spanish just off the beach. Only been out a couple of times. I have a very good feeling about this trip and the people I'm going out with. These guys EFS.--EAT, FISH, SLEEP when needed.

It won't matter as long as the wind is blowing in my face and the great smell of the sea and blue waters. the catching part is a plus. I plan on having good company and them teaching me the ropes, I am eager to learn.

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks??? Well as long as i don't have to run or jump to high i'll be all right.

Thanks for the replies. We will be going to the lower Cape Fear with a guide out of Southport 7AM tide. Been looking at the weather an hope the water temp rises in the creeks for a few specks. We will be light tackle or fly fishing if possible. What a learning curve!!!! But it is going to be fun staying in Southport overlooking the marina. Can't Wait!!!!
